{our mission}

1. We will conduct our business in such a fashion that we are always open to what God needs us to do. We will not acquire any debt that will enslave us. We desire to give freely financially, and of our time and talents. We will regularly keep up with our financial records. We will tithe. We will bless when there is an opportunity to. We will keep our office and equipment in good shape so that at a moment’s notice, we can be ready to go if we are asked to go.

Better is a little with righteousness than great income with injustice. (Proverbs 16:8)

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. (Proverbs 22:7)

For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required:  and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask more. (Luke 12:48)

2. We believe that we have a unique gift to give to our clients – one that can strengthen a marriage years down the road. We will strive to create photographs that years later will help the couple remember how much they love each other. During good and bad times in our clients’ marriages, we want our photos and albums to be a refuge and mirror of their love of each other. We strive for our photos to become heirlooms of love in each of our clients’ families.

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10)

3. We will strive to be a blessing in each of our professional relationships, going the extra mile in customer service and in the presentation of deliverables. Our love for our clients, business, and each other will be zealous.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13:1)

4. We will strive to be best photographers that we can be continuing in education, staying ahead of the pack with new technical innovations, knowing our equipment backwards and forwards, using professional grade equipment, always having backup plans ready, and using competent and friendly over-hire.

Whatever your hand finds to do, verily, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going. (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

5. We will present ourselves in a stylish and clean manner, be prompt, and do everything we can to bring joy and to be an attentive friend. We believe that our professional and personal behavior is a reflection of our God.

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31-32)

6. We will be trendsetters instead of trend followers. We will make a conscious effort to daily seek out inspiration in other mediums besides our photography business. This includes, but is not limited to, other art forms, personal photo projects, charity work, films, music, and literature. We will, during our weekly meeting, share our bits of inspiration with each other and our staff. This doesn’t mean that everything we do has to be original, we also recognize the importance of being an early-adopter in some situations.

For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and godhead; so that they are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)

7. We will strive to further our industry, through educating and hosting events for other photographers, attending workshops and conferences for community building, and creating work of such high calibre that the $500 Craigslist photographer becomes irrelevant.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:23-24)

I want

Who we are and who we’re trying to become is based solely on our desires.  In order to make changes you have to want to make those changes.  This is who I’m measuring myself to become, these are my wants.

I want to learn.

I want to be better.

I want to live in this moment and not take it for granted.

I want to remember where I came from and know that whatever I accomplish I accomplished because I worked hard to get it.

I want to realize that some things are simply out of my control and learn to work around those things.

I want to feel secure in who I am regardless of the situation.

I want to stop comparing myself to others.

I want to stop waiting and take action.

I want to love wholeheartedly.

A few weeks ago I posted this to my personal facebook page: “as humans, we do what we love as best we can. Sometimes we mess up, we make mistakes or simply drop the ball. But we learn from our mistakes and strive to become better. A better wife, a better business person, a better family member. We are who we are, and while there’s no changing who you are there is the chance to grow. To become a better version of yourself. To amend for what you’ve done and move on. Stay true to yourself, the rest is simply out of your control.” and I don’t think any other words could adequately describe how I feel.

I may not have reached the top, my dreams may still be a little ways away, but I know who I was and who I desire to be, as long as I work hard, hard and harder still I believe that I will get there.

And I just couldn’t help but feel that someone else out there needed that same encouragement.

And here’s a photo from Courtney and Luke’s engagement session in Charleston this past weekend.

Check back in a few days for more photos from their FABULOUS session!

it’s just a bridge

It’s just a bridge.

Just one piece in the puzzle of our trip, one landmark to weigh ourselves against.  Where we’ve been, what we are, and where we’re going.  It’s one blip in the history of us, but it carries it’s own monumental weight.

We sit in the quiet and dream.  We think of where we were a year ago and what led us here.  There were many bridges before this one, but this one is different.  We dream our quiet dreams but believe in one anothers loudly.  You’re the calm to my storm, the grounded one.  You’re an anchor tied to the bottom of my foot that keeps me stable when life’s waters toss me from side to side.

When I accomplish something you praise me, when I feel like I’ve failed you comfort me, when I mess up you do the best you can to pick up the pieces I left behind.

It’s just a bridge. Daunting in height and span alone, but we cross it together.  Because two is always better than one and because it’s not our first bridge and it certainly won’t be the last.  But I can’t wait to get to the other side and know that we made it, together.

Home {Florence, SC Photography+Cinematography}

There’s something about home.  Something unmistakable, at times unremarkable, and as a whole just what it sounds like.  A boring four letter word.  But there’s something about it that pulls you.  Maybe it’s not the place.  Maybe it’s the people that greet you there, their smiles and caring looks.  The way they say “So happy to see you back here!” Maybe it’s the family you build around yourself.  Those that were born as family members and the friends that you adopt to be a part of your family after years of laughs, long talks, and tears.

Whatever the case may be, the pull is there.  Some centrifugal force that says “Hey! Remember me, I miss you.”  A force that calls you back, sometimes it’s merely a daylong visit or a week of sleeping on your mothers couch.  But sometimes It’s more permanent.  Something you can’t shake and simply don’t want to do without.

A few months ago Wesley and I began to feel the pull.  It started interfering with our daily life in Atlanta and we found everything there to be a little less than what it was when we’d first moved there.  Nothing was as exciting, as inspiring, or as fun as it was a year ago and we knew that something had to change. So we started planning.  It wasn’t merely a personal decision but a business decision as well.  What we were striving to become, simply put, just wasn’t there.

Long story short we moved back home.  Sure, Florence is lacking the big buildings, skyscrapers and pent house events but we like it that way.  What we strive to do, what we’ve ALWAYS wanted to do is focus less on where we are but who we’re with.  What stories we’re being given and how to tell them in a simple, yet extravagant way. The people who those stories belong to and how they relate.  The way that they look at each other and say everything without saying anything at all.  THAT’S what we want to capture.

So if you feel stuck, if you feel like you’re compromising yourself to become what your surrounding are telling you that you have to be… Change your surroundings. Even if it’s just for a day, a week on your mom’s couch or something more permanent. Get out, make yourself a little less comfortable and if you really want to… Call us and we’ll shoot it!
